What We Do
Mission Statement: Our goal is to present Shakespeare's plays with an emphasis on clarity by making the language accessible and relating it to modern themes.
Shake the Fear is a new acting troupe, inspired by our desire to share our love of the work of William Shakespeare with young audiences intimidated and turned off by a style that feels dense, difficult and inaccessible.
We break down the Shakespearian canon to its core, distilling his works to simple stories and themes. We unlock these stories for our audiences to discover.
We invite our audiences to shake the fear and allow these stories, these comedies and tragedies, to inspire new feelings.
The world is a stage and our players perform Shakespeare everywhere.
We bring our simple storytelling technique to theatres, camps, classrooms, and beyond.
We are ambassadors for the Shakespeare Movement, presenting his plays clearly and concisely. We contemporize the power of the Bard for young and modern society, so the work of William Shakespeare will thrive. It’s time to Shake the Fear and awaken a new audience that will give way to a new voice for his stories.
